The Delights of Beijing
We arrived at the Forbidden City early this morning, and I have to say, it exceeded every expectation. I'd read countless books about this place over the years, but nothing quite prepares you for standing there in person. The sheer scale of it—the crimson walls, the golden roofs catching the sunlight, the intricate carvings on every surface—it's almost overwhelming in the best possible way.
Walking through those grand courtyards and palatial halls, I kept thinking about all the emperors and courtesans who walked these same paths centuries ago. The history feels tangible here, not just something you read about in a book. Every corner revealed another stunning detail, another photograph worth taking. By the time we'd made our way through to the private quarters and gardens, I understood why this place is considered one of the architectural wonders of the world.
